Yesterday, the Federal District Court denied the State of Arkansas' request to dismiss the ACLU and Centers for Reproductive Rights' constitutional challenge to the state ban on abortions after 12-weeks and prior to viability. A hearing scheduled for Friday, May 17, 2013 at 10:00 at which the ACLU and CRR will request that the Court prevent the dangerous law from going into effect will proceed as scheduled.

Organized in only two weeks over outrage at some of the bills aimed at interferin in women's personal, private reproductive decisions, the protest brought 500 people from all over Arkansas. Men and women across generations showed up to tell legislators "Enough is Enough."Go to our facebook page for pictures and comments. See ACLU of Arkansas Executive Director Rita Sklar's remarks here:
The Arkansas Senate today voted to pass a bill that would ban most abortions after 12 weeks of pregnancy, which means that the bill will now go to Governor Mike Beebe. We are hopeful that he will veto it. (He recently vetoed a bill that banned abortion at 20 weeks, but the Arkansas legislature just overrode that veto today, giving that law immediate effect.)
