The fight over healthcare for transgender youth in Arkansas has taken a devastating turn.

The plaintiffs in Stinson v. Fayetteville School District No.1 filed a motion to amend their complaint on Friday, seeking to add the Conway School District as a defendant in their federal lawsuit against a new Arkansas law mandating the display of the Ten Commandments in public schools.

Today, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals reversed the decision blocking Arkansas’s ban on gender-affirming health care for transgender youth. The ruling means the law will almost certainly go into effect — but not immediately.
