As a policy strategist at the ACLU of Arkansas, a DACA recipient and first-generation Arkansan, I was honored to be selected to visit and represent the voices of Arkansas at a listening session last week at the White House in Washington D.C.

Last week, the Arkansas General Assembly concluded its 2023 regular session and will officially adjourn on May 1, barring any need to address vetoes or significant errors.

While SB43 is not fully defeated, efforts to fight back against attempts to target LGBTQ Arkansans are working. Yesterday’s amendment to the bill no longer explicitly targets LGBTQ people.
Abbreviated by the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, a four-day Week 2 of the 2023 Arkansas legislative session wrapped Friday at the Arkansas State Capitol. Nearly 300 bills have already been filed with no shortage of attacks on the civil rights and liberties of Arkansans.
