If you would like information, or otherwise need to communicate with us, please write to us at the above address.
If the matter is urgent or you believe that serious harm is about to occur, you may leave a message on the answering machine at the above phone number; it is checked all day long. However, we cannot return every phone call we receive. If we feel it is a matter that requires our immediate attention and falls within our mission we will get back to you. Most of of the time, however, we respond only to written requests for legal assistance.
The ACLU's mission is to protect the Bill of Rights and Constitution and promote and strengthen civil liberties. We do not take cases based on a person's ability to hire an attorney, like Legal Services or court-appointed attorneys for people facing criminal charges. Many legal rights do not involve civil liberties issues or do not fall within the mission of the ACLU. Each request for assistance is assessed carefully. Many cases are best handled by an attorney who specializes in a particular area of the law.
